cast glass, acorns
Whistle bearer is a prayer, a spirit half here and half there, a glowing beacon treading through a valley of mica with its howling whistle echoing through the dark hollers where my family stays. Whistle bearer drops acorn tops as it sways. The acorn tops are whistles for my family, a way they taught me how to call for help in the woods when I was little. Whistle bearer welcomes us to call for help when we are in need. Â
Don’t know how to whistle with an acorn? Ask, and I'll show you.

These precious biological cases are on display calcified in time, categorized beside some of their material makeup. They beg to be handheld and cracked open while also seeming to scamper away. Each of these ceramic creatures has been oxidation-fired in an electric kiln with a gaseous sculptural glaze. Some are bejeweled with flakes from the floors of atmospheric kilns and pieces of collected eggshells. Size range from 2in to 9in .
