The pictured deer femur was given to me as a gift. Longing to dive into the dips and cracks that may only be seen through a hand lens, I pictured myself the size of a fairy, reclining in its curves.
What kinds of interactions may we have with a remnant of life after death that holds us? What may we feel in their structures and textures by bringing them to a scale that allows our fingers to trace them? Step with me into the micro so far that it becomes macro.
At about 2 feet tall, Femur is my biggest ceramic sculpture to date. I am working now to build a bone large enough to recline in, beside the fairies in their own.... stay tuned :*)
